Portugal
I booked my tickets to Portugal about a week before departure, so it wasn't really a spur of the moment thing. I just fancied a quick break so only decided to go for a few days. I've been to Portugal about 3 times now, twice to the capital Lisbon but in this instance, I stayed in the picturesque coastal city of Albufeira. I didn't have much planned for the trip as I just wanted to relax, so I didn't get up to anything too exciting.
Airport To Albufeira
It took about 30 minutes to get to my hotel from the airport. My room was actually huge, it had a double bed and two single beds so it was probably a family room. The location was also great, a stone's throw away from the beach and walking distance from both the new and old towns.

Beaches
I spent most of my time at Praia Dos Alemães and Praia Dos Aveiros as those were the two beaches closest to me. The former was pretty much deserted each time I visited, perhaps due to the fact I travelled out of season. I had fun taking in the scenery and exploring the cliffs. I'm not sure if I should recommend walking along the cliffs as the path got a bit too narrow at times. I'm also not sure if it's the safest of activities. Try at your own risk.

Algarve Countryside
After some quick online research, I booked a tour of the countryside with a local "jeep safari" company. I'm not the biggest fan of these kind of excursions as in my opinion they last for far too long. I won't lie towards the end I was falling asleep but overall was a fun day out.

"Yay or Nay"
To be totally honest I don't think I spent enough time in Albufeira to make an informed decision on whether it's worth visiting. The beaches are nice, plenty of places to explore and spacious and there are a lot of activities on offer. I do think I generally prefer Lisbon though.
